Be Part of the Brighton Winter Solstice!

The Brighton Winter Solstice is a signature seasonal event delivered by the City of Holdfast Bay, designed to activate Jetty Road, Brighton, during the quieter winter trading period. This street party transforms the precinct into a welcoming winter destination through curated lighting, fire pits, live local entertainment, and a strong family‑friendly program including dedicated kids’ activities.

By encouraging hospitality and retail businesses to extend their presence onto the street, the event fosters a lively, cohesive atmosphere that appeals to both locals and visitors. It not only enhances community engagement but also supports traders by driving increased foot traffic and dwell time during a traditionally low‑activity season.

Key objectives of the Brighton Winter Solstice are to bring the community together, support business continuity, and stimulate local

economic activity. While the Winter Solstice creates a welcoming environment for the community and visitors, it provides a direct economic benefit to local traders in a seasonal location. With the uplift in visitation and spending at the event, and the added value of showcasing local business offerings, it provides ongoing benefit for repeat visitation.

The event will be held from 4pm - 9:30pm, Saturday 20 June 2026.

Note: Jetty Road, Brighton will be closed to traffic from 12pm Saturday 20 June and reopen approximately 1am Sunday 21 June 2026.

How you can get involved

This is your chance to showcase your business during the Brighton Winter Solstice!

Here are some winter‑inspired ideas:

  • Create a Winter Warmer Special – think hearty dishes, hot drinks, spiced treats, or limited‑edition winter menus that celebrate cosy flavours.
  • Extend your dining or retail offering onto the street – to help create a glowing, bustling winter atmosphere alongside fire pits and festoon lighting.
  • Extend trading hours – to take advantage of increased evening foot traffic and the illuminated Solstice setting.
  • Decorate your shopfront with a winter theme – warm lighting, pine greenery or seasonal displays that enhance the festive street ambience.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring traders – on joint offers, themed menus, or mini‑activations to draw visitors along the full length of the event site.
  • Create a pop‑up activity for kids or adults – such as mini craft workshops, winter‑themed photo spots, or tasting stations.
