Commercial activities are a great way to put your product or business in the public spotlight.
There are two main types of commercial activities:
Free samples - refers to merchandise or any sealed products being given away with no obligation placed on the person accepting the sample
Business activation - refers to the temporary use of a public area for a promotional activity that engages the public
Please note, submitting a Commercial Activation application does not guarantee the right to operate, it is approved on a case by case basis. Promotions involving the distribution of free samples or discount vouchers must be in a designated area with minimal infrastructure used. Business activations are able to use more infrastructure and must remain in a designated area. If the business would like to continue the activation over multiple days, all infrastructure will need to be removed at the end of each day. The number of days the activation is allowed to run for will be determined by Council.
Ready to apply?
Before submitting your application, please ensure that your proposed activity is compliant with the current restrictions that are in place due to COVID-19.
An application can easily be made online and please have the following handy as you will need to submit:
a description and example (such as a photo) of the item to be distributed
a Certificate of Currently of your Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $20 million
a map showing the location
a plan showing the set up of any infrastructure (if applicable).
