The western segment of the Edith Butler Pier boardwalk will remain closed until separate rectification works by the Marina East Body Corporate at the Anzac Highway end of the boardwalk are complete and the area is confirmed safe. These works relate to privately owned infrastructure. The Body Corporate's contractor has advised that the remediation works are currently delayed and are likely to be completed by the end of 2026. As a result, the western section of the boardwalk will remain closed until the private works have been completed and the area can be safely reopened to the public.

Council has installed signage on the existing fencing to advise that private works are underway at the western end. Pedestrian detour routes are marked in the signage to guide the community safely around the closure area.
