Project Progress Update

24 July 2026

The boardwalk renewal works are progressing well and remain on track for practical completion by 31 July 2026. Subject to the completion of final activities, the construction site, including the contractor’s compound at Tarniwarra Reserve, is expected to be fully demobilised by 7 August 2026.

We are pleased to advise that we have partially reopened the boardwalk to the public on 24 July 2026. The eastern section of the boardwalk is now accessible, restoring public connectivity between Cygnet Court and Wigley Reserve.

While Council’s scope of works is expected to be completed by 31 July 2026, the reopening of the western section of the boardwalk remains dependent on separate rectification works being undertaken by the Marina East Body Corporate at the Anzac Highway end of the boardwalk. These works relate to the repair of privately owned infrastructure and must be completed before the western section can be safely reopened to the public.

The rectification works are the responsibility of the Marina East Body Corporate and are not being undertaken by Council. Due to a supply shortage, the Body Corporate's contractor has advised that the remediation works are currently delayed and are likely to be completed by December 2026. As a result, the western section of the boardwalk will remain closed until the works are complete and the area can be safely reopened to the public.

To assist the community, Council will install signage on the existing site fencing advising that private works are underway. Detour routes will also be marked to guide pedestrians around the closure area.

We thank the community for your patience and cooperation while these essential works are carried out.
