Update on Project Construction Timeframes

11 February 2026

Renewal works on the Edith Butler Pier Boardwalk at Glenelg Marina have been rescheduled to begin on Monday, 23 February 2026. The updated construction program includes repairs to the third parties' structures supporting the boardwalk and is expected to take approximately 13 weeks, with completion planned for mid‑May 2026, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen site circumstances. Note that the original construction program was 8-10 weeks. Council and the contractor have worked to reduce the impact on our community as much as possible.

To ensure the safety of the community and construction workers, the following temporary access changes will be in place for the duration of the project:

  • The Edith Butler Pier boardwalk and the concrete walkway across the Patawalonga Lake South Gates will be closed to the public.
  • This closure will remain in effect throughout the Easter period in April.
  • The Patawalonga Boat Lock will remain operational unless temporary closures are required for construction access or safety. Any necessary closures will be communicated well in advance to affected users.
  • Detour routes will be in place and will be clearly marked on-site.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we undertake this important infrastructure renewal to improve safety and amenity at the Glenelg Marina.
