All feedback received during the consultation period is collated and reviewed. It is compiled into a Community Engagement Summary Report, which is provided to Council to help inform its decision-making.

The Community Engagement Summary Report will be published on Council's engagement website YourHoldfast.com so the community can see what feedback was received. Personal information is not included in public reports.

Anyone who lives, studies, works in, or visits Holdfast Bay is welcome to participate in this community consultation.

The feedback will be used to develop a draft Environment Strategy, which will undergo further community consultation before being adopted by Council.

The Environment Strategy is a long-term plan that guides how Council protects and enhances the local environment. It helps set priorities, objectives and actions for areas such as climate change, biodiversity, trees, coastal management, waste reduction, sustainable resource use and community participation.

The current Environment Strategy is nearing the end of its five-year timeframe. Council is developing a new strategy to guide environmental priorities, programs and actions across Holdfast Bay for the next five years.

The environment belongs to the whole community. We want to understand what matters most to residents, businesses, visitors and community groups, so that the new strategy reflects local values, priorities and aspirations.

We are undertaking this first stage of engagement to understand the environmental issues, priorities and opportunities that matter most to the Holdfast Bay community.

Feedback will help us shape and develop the draft Environment Strategy by informing its proposed vision, strategic priorities, objectives and areas for future action. It will also help identify gaps, emerging issues and opportunities for community and stakeholder partnerships.

A draft Environment Strategy will then be presented to the community for further feedback before it is finalised and considered by Council.

The Environment Strategy will also be informed by a range of existing information and strategic directions. This includes insights from the previous Environment Strategy, relevant Council policies, plans and strategies, industry best practice and emerging environmental trends, national and state strategies and targets, as well as partnerships and collaboration with neighbouring councils. Together, these sources help ensure the strategy builds on past achievements, aligns with broader Council objectives and reflects leading approaches to environmental sustainability and resilience.
