Project Overview
Gilbertson Gully is a natural valley within Seacliff Park with a watercourse running through it. Over time, the watercourse has caused erosion in places along the gully. Rehabilitation works are required to reduce further erosion and improve access for gully users.
This project involves extending existing rock chutes to provide protection during rain events, installing stepping stones to help with access across the gully, and making minor improvements to paths along the trail. The works have been designed to maintain the natural feel of the gully.
The gully will be closed to access during construction, as heavy machinery will be moving large rocks around the site.
There will be road closures at times on Gilbertson Road and Mann St, and a site compound will be located on Gilbertson Road to accommodate the contractor's equipment and amenities.
Tree and vegetation removal will be minimised; however, some removal is expected to be inevitable to allow the rehabilitation works to be carried out.
Following the civil engineering works, over 28,000 plants will be planted within the gully to vegetate the area.
