A Housing Strategy is to be prepared to guide housing growth and associated infrastructure activity in the next decade. It would guide policies to provide for a range and diversity of housing in appropriate locations to accommodate a growing and changing population . There is still scope to widen our already diverse housing types for both young and old, lone and large households.

We invited your views on the proposed directions for a Housing Strategy for the City of Holdfast Bay, seeking your feedback on the directions for future housing growth. In the initial engagement we sought views on the types and locations for additional medium density housing, the maintenance of character areas and retention of some areas of larger allotment housing for those wanting space for families and other domestic activities.

Initial feedback has been used to prepare a draft strategy that will be provided for further wider engagement.

The initial 21 day engagement period began on Tuesday 31 October and closed at 5pm on 20 November 2017. Feedback is being considered in conjunction with the evolving development of the new Planning and Design Code and State Government Planning Reform.
