Once completed, the new irrigation mainline will help keep local reserves and landscaped areas healthier, greener, and more enjoyable for everyone. It will:

• Improve the overall look and condition of parks and open spaces
• Provide more reliable and even watering across reserves
• Reduce water waste and improve efficiency
• Lower the risk of breakdowns and unexpected repairs
• Make maintenance easier, with the ability to isolate smaller sections when needed
• Help protect important green spaces during future water restrictions

• Start: 16 June 2026
• Expected completion: end of September 2026

Work will generally occur 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays, excluding weekends and public holidays.

If work outside these hours is required, advanced notification will be provided.

The City of Holdfast Bay has engaged Base Civil Construction Pty Ltd to deliver the project.

During the works, you may see:

• Excavation and directional boring along the project area
• Construction vehicles and equipment
• Temporary work zones and material stockpiles

We will aim to keep disruptions to a minimum.

There may be some temporary changes to footpaths and parts of reserves while works are underway. To minimise inconvenience:

• Access will be maintained wherever possible
• Clearly marked detours or alternative paths will be provided if needed
• Works will be staged to limit disruption in any one area
• Work zones will be clearly fenced or marked to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe

Please follow all signage and directions when moving through the area.

Yes. The project area is culturally significant to the Kaurna people. While formal monitoring is not required, the project team will follow the appropriate procedures if anything of cultural significance is discovered.

The system uses recycled water, not mains (drinking) water. This supports Council’s commitment to reducing reliance on potable water and using sustainable alternatives where possible.

• Deliver water more evenly
• Reduce leaks and losses from aging infrastructure.
