Community consultation opens on Thursday 2 October and closes at 9am on Wednesday 22 October 2025.

All feedback received during the consultation will be carefully reviewed and considered by Council as part of the planning and decision-making process for proposed upgrades to Parkinson Reserve. Responses will be collated into a summary report, with all personal information removed to ensure privacy. This report will help inform the design and delivery of informal sporting infrastructure that reflects community needs and aspirations. Council is committed to transparent engagement and will share the outcomes of the consultation with the community once the process is complete.

Anyone who lives, studies, works in or visits Holdfast Bay is welcome to participate in this community consultation.

Following a recent assessment of informal sport infrastructure across the City of Holdfast Bay, Parkinson Reserve has been recognised as a site with the capacity and potential to accommodate additional informal sport infrastructure.

No changes will occur to the playspace as part of this project. Any future changes to the playspace will be subject to a separate engagement process in the coming years, and as such are not included in this consultation. Any outcomes of this Sporting equipment engagement will be incorporated into future playspace planning.

Community feedback will help guide the planning and design process, foster community ownership, and support the creation of inclusive, accessible, and well-utilised recreational spaces.

Council has allocated a budget of $40,000 for the delivery of Informal Sport Infrastructure projects across Holdfast Bay during the 2025–2026 financial year. Parkinson Reserve has been identified as a key site for investment. This engagement will help inform the selection of equipment for Parkinson Reserve and the associated budget requirements. This, in turn, will inform any available funds for other locations in Holdfast Bay in 25/26.

Project will be completed in the 2025-2026 Financial Year. Community engagement will close on 22 October. Council will review feedback, seek Council approval and update the engagement website by the end of October. Council will engage contractors in November, with installation to follow as booked in by the contractor around other pre-committed works and timelines.
