Gordon / Partridge Streets intersection works update

29 May 2026

Road resurfacing works at the Gordon and Partridge Streets intersection have progressed well during the first week of construction.

Favourable conditions have enabled significant work to be completed as planned, with sections of the intersection able to reopen to traffic from Friday evening (29 May), supporting improved access through the area.

Program update due to weather

Severe weather, including forecast heavy rain, is expected early next week. To ensure safety and maintain the quality of the works and road surface, the program will be adjusted, with a temporary pause in works due to the forecasted significant rain.

Works will then resume under an updated program, with additional measures including some night works, to complete the Gordon / Partridge St intersection work.

Due to the temporary delays, the asphalt resurfacing work at the eastern end of Jetty Road (between the Gordon and Partridge Streets intersection and Brighton Road), originally planned to take place in conjunction with the intersection work, will be rescheduled to later in the year.

We will continue to provide updates as the program progresses.

Traffic changes

The following changes to traffic conditions are anticipated to be in place from Friday evening (29 May) for the following week.

  • Additional lanes through the Gordon and Partridge Streets intersection will reopen
  • All vehicle movements through the intersection (including along Jetty Road) will be restored for the week
  • Jetty Street, Eitzen Street, Newmans Lane and Rose Street will return to normal one-way northbound operation with access from both sides of Jetty Road
  • Tram services will continue to temporarily terminate at Brighton Road (Stop 15).

A detailed update on the project and traffic changes for the third week of the works (from 9 June) will be provided next week.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding while these important upgrades are completed.
