Paving and roadworks construction update

5 November 2025

As the construction program continues and remains on track, we'd like to thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we make great progress towards completing these improvements.

Here’s this week’s update on paving and roadworks around Jetty Road.

Current paving works:

  • Durham Street to the corner of Colley Terrace, near Hotpot: Scheduled for this week
  • Moseley Street (western side): Works will continue northbound to Jetty Road, then west around the corner up to The Colley Hotel
  • Moseley Street (eastern side): Paving will progress northbound to Jetty Road, then eastwards to Milton Street

The above works include parking bays and footpaths, except for small sections around service pits.

  • Nile Street / Jetty Road corner: Paving will begin next week, moving west towards Sussex Street over the next two-and-a-half weeks. The eastern side of this corner is expected to be completed within the next week.

To help businesses plan, we’ll provide one day’s notice before paving crosses any entryways.

However you may see a paving crew in your area beforehand, at your neighbour's business, which will give you an indication that the crew will be coming to your business a day or two later.

All business entry points will remain accessible during normal trading hours.

To further accelerate the paving work, single entrances into business will be retained on the day the paving team moves across your business entrance. For further information, speak to the Transforming Jetty Road project team.

Construction stats to date

  • 4500 square metres of demolition completed
  • 2600 square metres of concrete poured
  • 400 square metres of paving has been laid and completed areas are now open for public use

  • Asphalting and roadworks

Asphalting near the tram tracks is scheduled to start on Monday 17 November 2025 and will last for three weeks. Work will commence from Moseley Square and head east towards Gordon / Partridge streets.

Preparing for the asphalting requires detailed coordination and preparation and this week, the team will begin pretesting and trial works along the roadway to confirm the best approach for protecting the tram infrastructure and to accelerate the roadway construction.

Please note, the testing process will involve large machinery and jackhammers, which will cause some noise.

    Colley Terrace works

Work on the roadway of Colley Terrace commenced this week which includes excavating the roadway.

This is the first step in preparing the area for concreting and paving.
