Upcoming road closures for City zone works

As construction work progresses in the City zone as part of Transforming Jetty Road Glenelg, please be aware of two weekend road closures that will impact traffic movements and parking.

Over the weekends of 17 - 19 May and 30 May - 2 June, sections of Jetty Road between Brighton Road and Partridge / Gordon streets will be closed to traffic for resurfacing work.

Footpaths will be fully accessible to pedestrians, and businesses can operate as usual during the road closures.

The resurfacing works have been scheduled to coincide with the temporary weekend tram service suspensions as part of the Tram Grade Separation Project.

This weekend 17 - 19 May

The southern side of Jetty Road in the City zone (from Brighton Road to Partridge / Gordon streets) will be closed to traffic from 10pm on Saturday 17 May until 1am on Monday 19 May 2025 to allow road resurfacing to take place.

The northern side of Jetty Road will remain open to east-bound traffic from the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection towards Brighton Road.

There will be no exit onto Jetty Road from Newmans Lane, which will operate as a two-way street during the closure.

From 12am – 7am on Sunday 18 May, the northern side of Jetty Road in the City zone will also be closed to traffic to support road resurfacing on the southern side.

During this time, there will be road detours in place with no traffic through the City zone of Jetty Road (between Brighton Road and the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection).

During the northern side closure, there will be no exit onto Jetty Road from Rose Street and Eitzen Street, which will operate as two-way streets.

Pedestrian access on the footpaths remains uninterrupted, and businesses will be trading as normal.

The weekend of 30 May - 2 June

Jetty Road, from Brighton Road to the Partridge / Gordon streets intersection, will be closed to traffic from 10pm on Friday 30 May 2025 until 6am on Monday 2 June for the reconstruction and resurfacing of the northern side of the road.

Once the road closures are in place, any vehicles parked within the area will be granted a safe exit from the street through traffic management.

Detours will be in place for the duration of the construction works. People are encouraged to use the Partridge Street car parks, which offer two hours free parking.

There will be no exit onto Jetty Road from Rose Street and Eitzen Street, which will operate as two-way streets.

Footpaths will be fully accessible to pedestrians and businesses can operate as usual during the road closures.
