Consultation Results & Final Design

14 July 2026

Thank you to everyone who participated in the community engagement for the Wattle Reserve Playspace Upgrade project.

Throughout the project, Council undertook two phases of community engagement to gather feedback and understand the priorities of residents, park users and the wider community:

  • Phase 1 Community Engagement: 25 September – 15 October 2025
  • Phase 2 Community Engagement: 20 November – 10 December 2025

The valuable feedback received throughout both engagement phases has helped shape the final design, ensuring that the upgraded playspace meets the community's needs and expectations while enhancing recreational opportunities at Wattle Reserve.

What We Heard

The Option 1 (Stingray) design option received approximately two-thirds of all preferences, demonstrating a clear and statistically significant majority among respondents. While both concepts were generally well received, the Stingray option attracted stronger and more frequent endorsement, particularly from families with children across multiple age groups. Feedback showed strong support for popular play elements such as the flying fox, swings, climbing opportunities and retention of the much-loved rocking boat. Feedback also highlighted the need to balance active play with neighbourhood amenity, improve road-safety interfaces, and retain quality supporting infrastructure, including seating, shelters, and BBQ facilities.
