Consultation has concluded

In 2018 we contracted the Youth Affairs Council of SA (YACSA) to work with us to develop a Youth Action Plan for the City of Holdfast Bay.

During development of the Action Plan, we engaged with 250 young people from 8 our our local primary and secondary schools.

The Youth Action Plan 2018 - 2023 was endorsed by Council in July 2018.

Since endorsement of the Youth Action Plan, we have been working with young people across our community to progress some of the key actions identified in the plan. Below is a list of initiatives we have undertaken over

Since endorsement of the Youth Action Plan, we have been working with young people across our community to progress some of the key actions identified in the plan. Below is a list of initiatives we have undertaken over the last 18 months.

Youth Action Plan Initiatives:

  • Ran a Youth Engagement professional development workshop for key Council staff
  • Reviewed the objectives and key focus areas of HoldUp Youth Committee
  • Engaged young people in a range of Council community engagement projects, including; the redevelopment of Wigley Reserve Playspace and Fitness Hub, creation of our Arts and Cultural Strategy and review of our Open Space and Public Realm Strategy
  • Encouraged and supported young performers and entrepreneurs to be involved in Council events
  • Created youth friendly spaces and activities at key Council community events
  • Developed the Y20 Youth Volunteering Program with the aim of supporting young people to perform 20 hours of volunteering to aid their study and work experience requirements
