Project Overview

The existing play equipment on the grounds of Partridge House has reached the end of its asset life and is due for renewal. The renewal of the playspace will involve replacing all existing play equipment with nature-based play equipment that is more in keeping with the natural setting of the Partridge House precinct.

The playspace will remain at the south end of the lawn area on Penzance Street and has been designed to avoid the significant tree root zone of the cherished Ombu Tree.

Consultation on the design was undertaken between 10 April and 30 April 2025. Feedback received helped inform the final design.

What we asked you

Throughout April 2025, we asked you to share your views on a concept design for the Partridge Playspace renewal project. The community were given the opportunity to provide feedback on the design.

Below are key elements and features which have been included in the design as a result of community feedback:

  • Log Ladder Stepper

    The addition of a log ladder will provide an alternative option for younger children to access the platform.

  • Communication Board

    A communication board includes words and symbols to support expression of thoughts, needs, wants and ideas for people with a communication disability.

  • Swing Seats Amended

    The swing set will include a baby/toddler seat, a bird's nest basket seat and a standard swing seat.

  • Additional Seating

    An additional seating nook has been included, allowing for seating at multiple points within the play area.

  • Quiet Play & Sensory

    An additional garden bed has been included with sensory totum features and quiet play opportunities.

  • Shade & Native Plantings

    The design includes new garden beds, which will provide an opportunity to plant native species on the northern side of the playspace, creating additional shade.
