Stage 2 Harrow Road GPTs

21 October 2025

Two new Gross Pollutant Traps (GPTs) are being installed on the stormwater outfall pipes at Harrow Road. GPTs are large units that collect solid waste within the stormwater system, preventing pollutants from entering the ocean and resulting in improved water quality.

The new GPT units are being built by our supplier, ready for installation in early 2026. These will be installed on the two pipes that currently outfall at Harrow Road, Somerton Park, as seen in the image below.

The GPT units will be placed within the current seawall area, with the seawall being reinstated around the units following installation.

The works are currently planned to commence in January, the main activities include:

  • seawall removal
  • ground preparation
  • concrete pad construction
  • crane lift of units
  • construction of concrete pipe protection
  • construction of maintenance walkway
  • replacement of seawall

During the project, the western section of Harrow Road will be closed to traffic for a site compound, all Harrow Road residents can access their properties from the eastern side of the compound.

During daytime working hours, the Coast Park will be closed to ensure the machinery operates safely.

Coast Park users will be redirected around the works.
